Chapter 14--What I hope to achieve in 2007

Hmm since 2006 is coming to a close soon, I thought that it may be a good time to make some resolutions on what I hope to achieve in 2007.( although whether or not they will really be accompolished is another thing)

Better health

Erm... can't really remember when was the last time I actually went for a jog( although I figure it should be somewhere in may 2005). Its really a shame because running was one of my favourite activities in camp when there was nothing much else to do. In fact, last time when I was still in army, I happened to be one of the fastest(or should I say more endurance) runner in HQ company workshop platoon(yeah although I think that some of my bmt mates may find it hard to believe haha). Anyway, I really hope that I can recover the passion and discipline again to go for regular jogs because I still hope to realize my dream of running in the yearly standard chartered marathon one day as the longest distance I ever ran in my life is still 16km when I was in the army and I know that I can definitely do much better than that. Furthermore, I hate the idea of not training for a major event and feeling totally unprepared and therefore I am definitely not going to register for the marathon without any preparation before hand. I still a sucker for the exhilarations and sense of achievement after every hard races and I hope that I will be mentally and physically ready for the marathon in 2007 and yeah! I can finally get the t-shirt that I always wanted.
In addition, I also hope to bulk up in 2007 by working out more and packing more mass so that it is not only better for my overall health, but more importantly, I can look better in clothes(ok, maybe I am really 10% metrosexual in that department).
Last but certainly not least, I really hope that I can eat more fruits and greens because I have been lacking in that department for a very looong time liao although I have been salvaging this disastrous situation since 2006 and have been maintaining it although it can be hard sometimes. At the same time, I do want to cut down my intake of fast food to not more than 2 times a week.

Read more books

Although I have been catching up on a bit of reading during this holiday( and by virtue of reading I refering to novels and not textbooks), there are still tons of books that I hope to read( beacuse I have been reading textbooks only during term time) and therefore I really hope that I can read more books in 2007. Really desperate to want to read "For one more day" by my all-time favourite author Mitch Albom although I am still waiting for it to be published in paperbacks which are cheaper and after studying economics in the last semester, I finally understand the principle of those evil publishers who always publish hardback cover first before publishing paperbacks. Nevertheless, I am definitely not stopping people who want to give me the book for christmas present!

Learn to cook

Okay, I know that I have been talking about wanting to learn to cook for a relatively long time liao although up till now, my knowledge of cooking is still stagnant at cooking maggie mee with eggs. However, watching "jewels in the palace" really does inspired me a bit to accelerate the process of learning to cook proper dishes. Therefore, any of you cook masters out there who still have vacaccy in accepting disciple, please feel free to contact me.

Show more concerns to my loved ones

Again, I know that I have been nasty and evil to some of my friends and family members and I hope that in 2007, I would be able to amend it by showing more care and concerns to those around me. I will also be trying to make an effort to have more "physical" contacts with my friends and family wherever possible which include sending hand written birthday and new year cards and calling the respective individuals instead of sms-ing them.( although I feel that it can be a bit wasted because I have 500 free sms very month which I NEVER exceed the quota and only 100 minutes of free out-going calls)

Of course, all the above will be relatively meaningless and useless if I did not make an effort to realize them and there are people out there who say that resolutions will never work. Therefore, maybe the most important resolution that I should make is one that I would be able to fulfil all of my above resolutions by 2007(haha)

So, what is your resolutions for 2007?

Yours Sincerely,

Yongster
